Can Halo Laser Be Paired With Other Treatments?
Halo Laser delivers impressive results on its own, but if you’re looking for an even more well-rounded experience, our team can pair this advanced laser skin resurfacing platform with other treatments as part of your personalized plan.
Chemical Peels
Alternating Halo treatments with chemical peels helps maintain your results between laser sessions while addressing surface-level concerns like fine lines and mild pigmentation.
Microneedling
Another collagen-boosting treatment, microneedling, perfectly complements Halo when targeting skin firmness and texture as well as acne scarring and other concerns.
Injectables
Pairing Halo Laser with neuromodulator or dermal filler injections allows you to target dynamic wrinkles and volume loss more effectively while still receiving all the benefits of laser skin resurfacing.
Your Halo Laser Experience at Haven Medspa
Initial Consultation
The first step in the treatment process is to have a personalized consultation with our providers. We will evaluate your skin type, aesthetic concerns, expectations of treatment, medical history and more to formulate a safe and highly targeted approach. This includes providing all the pre-treatment instructions you need to have a successful experience. For many patients, this means pausing certain medications and treatments, including retinoids, and avoiding sun exposure for a set period of time before your Halo Laser session.
Treatment Day
Once the treatment area is thoroughly cleansed and numbed with a topical cream, our trained specialist will apply laser energy to the area using the Halo handpiece. You will feel a warming sensation and some slight prickling, but most patients report little to no discomfort. The treatment itself typically takes 15 to 30 minutes. Immediately after treatment, we will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions.
Post-Treatment Timeline
The First 24 Hours
Your skin will be warm and red, like a mild sunburn. You may experience mild swelling, and the skin may feel tight during this window. Applying ice packs to the area as directed will help to reduce any post-treatment swelling. Carefully following all of your post-treatment instructions is vital in early recovery to safeguard your results and prevent unnecessary discomfort.
Days 1 to 3
The tiny treatment zones created by Halo Laser have stimulated the skin’s healing processes by this time, which may make the treatment zones more visible. The skin tends to take on a bronzed, grid-like appearance during this stage of recovery, which is temporary. Your skin may feel rough or gritty to the touch, and swelling peaks on or before the third day.
Days 4 to 7
The treated skin begins to slough off, which is a natural and expected part of the Halo Laser treatment process. It’s important you allow the peeling to occur naturally, only using gentle moisturizers and other recommended products.
Week 2 and Beyond
Your skin’s texture, tone, and even your pores begin to look more balanced and refined during the second week. These initial results continue to improve for as long as six months as Halo works its magic beneath the surface of the skin.
Recovery and Aftercare
Even though Halo Laser can do what more aggressive alternatives can with a much smoother recovery process, that doesn’t mean aftercare is any less important following this laser treatment.
Essential Aftercare Guidelines
Do:
- Follow all provided aftercare instructions precisely
- Use only approved gentle cleansers and healing products
- Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen every day
- Keep skin well-moisturized with recommended products
- Sleep with your head elevated for as long as directed
- Stay hydrated to support optimal healing
- Contact us immediately with any concerns
Don’t:
- Avoid picking, peeling or scratching treated skin
- No makeup until peeling is complete (typically five to seven days)
- Avoid direct sun exposure for at least four weeks
- No swimming, hot tubs or saunas for two weeks
- Avoid strenuous exercise for one week
- No retinoids or exfoliating products until cleared by our team
- Avoid scheduling important events within ten days of treatment
Finally, everyone’s healing process is unique. Factors like your age, skin type, treatment settings and how efficiently your body heals itself can all influence recovery time. Some patients experience more dramatic peeling while others have a gentler sloughing process, both of which are normal responses.
