01 – Initial Consultation

The first step in a successful Nouvaderm treatment plan is the initial consultation, wherein our laser specialists will perform a complete skin assessment. We will carefully examine your skin under special lighting to identify concerns that even you may not have noticed.

The consultation also presents an important opportunity for us to discuss your goals, questions and concerns in detail. What bothers you the most about your skin? What are you looking to change? Do you have any questions about the process, recovery, etc.?

Your input will help shape our treatment design, along with your medical history, skin sensitivities and other individualized factors. By the end of the consultation, you will feel fully confident in the direction your treatment plan is headed.

02 – Treatment Day

When you arrive for your Nouvaderm treatment, we begin with pre-treatment photos to document your skin’s current condition. These images help us track your progress and fine-tune future treatments. After cleansing your skin thoroughly, we apply a topical anesthetic to the treatment areas. This numbing cream requires 30 to 45 minutes to take full effect, ensuring your comfort throughout the procedure.

Once the anesthetic has worked its magic, our certified laser technician begins your customized treatment. You’ll wear protective eyewear throughout the session. Most patients describe the sensation as warmth with occasional snapping feelings, similar to a rubber band against the skin. The Nouvaderm system includes integrated cooling technology that minimizes discomfort during treatment.

Facial treatments typically take 30 to 45 minutes, while larger areas like the full face and neck may require up to an hour. Throughout the procedure, your practitioner checks in regularly to ensure your comfort.

03 – Post-Treatment Experience

Days 1-3: Initial Healing

The first few days after Nouvaderm treatment are the most critical for proper healing. Your skin will be red and may feel tight or swollen, particularly in the first 24 to 48 hours. This is your body’s natural healing response and indicates the treatment is working.

During this phase, gentle cleansing with the products we provide is essential. Avoid using your regular skincare products, as even gentle formulas may irritate freshly treated skin. Apply the prescribed healing ointments as directed to keep skin moisturized and protected.

Sleep with your head elevated on extra pillows to minimize swelling. Stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water, which supports your body’s healing process. Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat exposure and anything that makes you sweat during this initial recovery period.

Days 4-7: Transformation Phase

As you enter the second half of your first week, you’ll notice your skin beginning to peel or flake. This is exactly what we want to see, indicating that old, damaged skin cells are being shed to reveal fresh, healthy skin underneath. The peeling process varies among patients, with some experiencing light flaking while others have more pronounced peeling.

Resist the temptation to pick or scratch at peeling skin, as this can lead to scarring or pigmentation issues. Instead, keep skin well-moisturized with approved products and let the peeling happen naturally. By day five to seven, much of the peeling will be complete, and you’ll start seeing a beautiful layer of skin revealed underneath.

Most patients can return to normal activities and wear makeup by the end of the first week, though your skin may still appear slightly pink. This pinkness is temporary and typically fades over the following weeks.

Weeks 2-4: Revealing Results

As the second week begins, you should notice significant improvements in your skin’s texture and tone. Fine lines appear softer, pores look refined, and any pigmentation concerns are noticeably lighter. The pinkness continues to fade, and your skin takes on a healthy, radiant glow.

This is when the real magic is happening beneath the surface. Your body’s collagen production has been activated by the laser treatment, and new collagen fibers are forming. This process continues for months, meaning your results will actually improve over time.

You’ll return for a follow-up appointment around the two-week mark so we can assess your healing and results. This is when we discuss whether additional treatments are recommended and plan your long-term skin maintenance strategy.

Months 2-6: Continued Enhancement

The most exciting aspect of Nouvaderm treatment is that your results continue improving for months after your session. As collagen remodeling continues, you’ll notice ongoing enhancements in skin firmness, texture and overall quality. Many patients report that their skin looks and feels better at the six-month mark than it did immediately after treatment.
