Morpheus8 Cool is the newest way to get collagen remodeling treatment at Haven Med Spa. It is a radiofrequency microneedling treatment, and it runs on a handpiece built with a large cooling tip. The cooling sits right at the surface of your skin while the energy does its work underneath. Dr. Virpal Thiara offers it at our Rocklin office.

What makes the Cool handpiece different?

The difference is where the cooling happens and how broad the cooled area is. Microneedling with RF has always had to manage two things at the same time: getting useful heat down deep, and keeping the surface of the skin comfortable. The Cool handpiece approaches that with a large-surface cooling tip rather than a small one, so a broader area of skin stays cooled while the needles deliver energy below.

Dr. Thiara’s view is straightforward. This is the revised version of a treatment patients already ask for by name, and the revision is aimed squarely at the part of the visit people think about beforehand. How any treatment feels is different for every person, and we will not tell you otherwise. What we can tell you is what the handpiece was designed to do.

What does recovery look like?

There is downtime with this treatment, and we would rather you plan for it than be surprised by it. Dr. Thiara tells patients to plan on three to five days. Expect your skin to look flushed and feel warm, a little like a sunburn, and expect some swelling. A grid pattern from the needle tips is normal and fades. Most people are comfortable going back to normal activities before their skin has fully settled, but plan your calendar around that window rather than around the best case.

We will send you home with written aftercare. Sun protection is not optional afterward, and you will be asked to hold off on active skincare ingredients for a few days. Your exact recovery depends on the area treated and the settings used, and it varies from patient to patient.

Who performs this treatment at Haven?

Dr. Virpal Thiara performs this treatment personally. Her board certification is in internal medicine, from the American Board of Internal Medicine. She has practiced for two decades. She assesses every patient herself before any energy device is used on their skin, and she is the one who decides whether a treatment is appropriate for you. The Morpheus8 platform is FDA cleared. Cleared means the Food and Drug Administration reviewed the device and allowed it onto the market for its intended use. Clearance and market approval are separate regulatory pathways, and we use the term that actually applies.
